Membership of The Brookland Club is capped at 250 members. Membership spots become available if a current member is removed from the club or voluntarily surrenders membership. When a spot is available the next member on the waiting list nominates a person to apply. Below is a direct quote from the rules and regulations book on membership and the waiting list.

“When the current waiting list gets down to five members, a lottery drawing will be held at the next annual shareholder’s meeting to increase the list to twenty-five members. You must attend the annual meeting and place your name in the container for the drawing. You are not automatically entered into the lottery drawing. Membership applications will be mailed out to those members being added to the waiting list. You do not need to have an application submitted at the time of the lottery. However, when your name is in the top 5, you should have an application submitted at that time for consideration. The member’s name goes on the waiting list. Applications received along with the $25 application fee from the person they are recommending for membership will be held by the club secretary until that person’s spot is open for membership consideration. The $25 payment is non-refundable and is processed at the time of application. A member can withdraw the application of the person they are recommending at any time and submit another name for consideration. However, the $25 application fee is non-refundable. The current fee for memberships via the waiting list is $1000, and $300 annual dues if applicable at the time of membership. These payments are due on the evening of the applicant’s acceptance into the Club. If your spot as a member becomes eligible for consideration for membership and you have not yet submitted an application, you will be removed from the list. The opening will go to the first person who has submitted an application. You may enter the next lottery if so desired. It is the sole responsibility of the member who is on the waiting list to know where they are on the list. The list is updated regularly and is always posted on the club house bulletin board.
