Founded in 1899, the Brookland Club is the longest, continuously operating hunting and fishing club in Pennsylvania. Original member of the club were mostly aristocrats of Couldsport, Galton and Wellsboro who traveled by horseback to set up tents on the club property along Telescope Road. The original superintendent house for the club caretaker was located at the current address of 691 Telescope. Eventually members became tired of setting up tents so they set up more permanent structures, hence where the camps come from. Club created membership on land to help with taxes on these structures. Allowed for members to live and build on the property if they continued membership with the club. The original charter also encouraged these properties and camps to be handed down from generation to generation as well as membership to the club. Original annual club dues were 10 dollars. Below is an update on the club along with some pictures dated 1914.
